Technology Innovations Group Leader
Technology Innovations Group Leader Drug development is increasingly focusing on the integration and analysis of a wide variety of heterogeneous and voluminous data sources such as healthcare claims data, genomic, observational and clinical data. This combined with an increasingly complex business environment where cross organizational and cross company collaborations are critical to success, requires that that we leverage informatics and IT capabilities in new and innovative ways. The Group Leader for Technology Innovation leads a small team of software engineers and is responsible for providing technical vision and leadership to key projects within the Global Health Outcomes, Global Brand Development and US Medical areas. The initial focus of this position will be to establish the group and to deliver an integrated solution to support the management, integration, and analysis of terabytes of external healthcare data from multiple sources. The Group Leader will be expected work with architects and senior technologists across multiple IT organizations to establish an architectural plan and technology roadmap integrating external data and its analysis with other internal data sources.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES: - Act as the subject matter expert on the design, development and deployment of software solutions for the management and analysis of healthcare data
- Drive the development of an architectural vision and technology roadmap for external data access and analysis in coordination with architects and technologists across multiple IT organizations
- Manage the design and delivery of key components the data access and delivery environment
- Serve as a credible mediator blending technologies used across LRL to achieve desired results
- Act as a mentor to other technologists
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - BS or MS in Computer Science/Epidemiology or related fields
- Extensive applied experience the development of solutions to support heterogeneous data-mining and/or visualization
- Fluency in C#, JAVA or C++
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES: - Applied experience in logical and physical data modeling
- Demonstrated technology leadership either through direct supervision or leadership and delivery of technology based solutions
- Demonstrated mastery in iterative design and development methodologies
- Familiarity with SAS and other statistical environments
- Exposure to the analysis of administrative claims data or other large population based datasets
- Experience in pattern-based design principals
- Expertise in distributed-computing application design and construction
- Applied experience in UI design and development Familiarity with multiple design, construction, version control, and testing tools
- Experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, and specification
- Expertise in multiple black-box and white-box testing techniques
- Familiarity with project management methods and tools
- Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques
- Familiarity with the .NET platform
- Knowledge of Unix and Windows computing environments
- Applied experience with RDF, OWL, and semantic web technologies
- Scientific background or experience working with a scientific community
- Experience using RUP and XP development methodologies Effective communication skills
- Excellent self-management skills
